Every week, Raid Rx will help you quarterback your healers to victory! Your host is Matt Low, the grand poobah of World of Matticus and a founder of No Stock UI, a WoW blog for all things UI, macro, and addon related.
I hope you’re not falling asleep on the job. Is healing getting a bit boring for you? Are you not happy with the way you’re playing? Quite simply, the speed at which healers do stuff can lead to raid success or raid failure. Its no secret right? The more things you can do in a minute, the better. For DPS players, this is a fairly accepted fact. The more spells or abilities they can squeeze out, the higher their DPS goes. But what about healers? It all boils down to making the right decisions. Some healers are excellent at healing. Some are excellent at running. There are many that have a problem doing both at the same time.
So this week I wanted to introduce a term called actions per minute and what it means for healers. In the end, its all about being

Everyone seems to be weighing in on the new late night wars between Conan and Leno — I’m firmly on Team Conan. Leno and his chin have had their time in the spotlight, they can take themselves elsewhere. And according to the launcher screen Blizzard might be siding with Conan, too.
Sit at the launcher for a few minutes and let a few features flash by. You’ll eventually see the above advertisement for the new character feeds in the armory, with the character name of “Coco” clearly visible. There is some speculation that this timely reference is a nod to the “I’m with Coco” portrait by Mike Mitchell that’s become the picture of Conan resistance.
So is Blizzard weighing in and saying Carson’s legacy should sit in the hands of Conan? If for no better reason than my own tin-foil hat attitude, I’m going to say yes. Yes they are.

Disappointed with the content in Wrath of the Lich King, Cygnus of <Tetractys of the Decad> on Drenden has decided to be first in line to greet Deathwing at Grim Batol. He sent in the following poem/rant/Unabomber-esque screed about tanking in WotLK:
Cygnus is waiting. Cygnus is a protection warrior that, like many heroes, was promised glory in the frozen north. Cygnus arrived in the freezing wastes to find no glory, but only that all the crowd control is now solely his job. Cygnus looked up to a sky with no sun, only to see a drake he had to ride, depriving him from his sword. Cygnus loved to learn new abilities during his training, and felt miserable when he was ordered to ride and charge with a lance. Cygnus hates being cold. Cygnus has had it with the Lich King. Cygnus is in Wetlands until the voices in his head stop calling for a “taunt”. Cygnus is now at the doors of Grim Batol, where the sun shines, and a new promise of glory will be made. Cygnus is

Not only are we taking applications for a resto/moonkin druid columnist, a holy paladin columnist, a lore columnist and an addon columinst, but now we’d like to throw the shaman column into the mix. After over two years of throwing down shaman advice like totems at an Onyxia raid, Matt Rossi is moving on to other writing duties on the site (and continuing with the warrior column.) And, as with the other hybrid class columns, we are going to take this opportunity to split the column into two weekly installments to focus on specific talent trees.
Our very own Michael Sacco, who has recently been promoted to Editor here as well as taking over the reins of the WoW Insider Show podcast, will be writing a weekly elemental shaman installment of Totem Talk. That leaves us with the need for an restoration/enhancement shaman columnist, with a particularly strong background in the healing aspect. If that’s you and you want to get paid to write about your favorite class, follow the

While venturing into Icecrown Citadel, death knight Joanus of <Inner Circle> on Kilrogg-EU discovered this disturbing message spelled out on the ground with well-placed fish feasts. “The biggest questions to be asked here are who put this there? Why?” asked Joanus. “Is this a message from Jaina to Arthas? What does the Lich King think of this? How long has it been there? I guess the only way to find out is to head to the top of the Citadel and ask him personally.” Yeah, good luck with that.

Tinwhisker sent us this link to a set of entertaining PUG bingo cards on the official forums, made by Cruce of Scarlet Crusade. While I’m not sure I would actually have gotten bingo on any single run, some of the squares have certainly happened in many of my runs:
A pure DPS class doing triple digit DPS (especially Death Knights; sorry to all the good DKs out there).
RankWatch. Almost every run.
Three or more members are “the Patient.” I guess it’s nice to show that they have some PuG experience, but that just makes egregious failures that much more disappointing.
Someone starts on a mob the tank hasn’t even hit yet. More often than not.
Melee DPS attacking from the front. It’s really not that hard, folks.
One thing I’d add to the list is people protesting that they don’t take the game that seriously when you give them advice, like that they might want to put up diseases before using other strikes on their DK. You don’t have

Be warned: This post, as well as the video above, includes minor spoilers for Patch 3.3’s Shadowmourne quest chain. If you don’t want to be spoiled, do not read/watch.
We’ve featured a video showing off this stretch of the Shadowmourne questline before, the bit where you retrieve Light’s Vengeance, but I would hardly call The Sacred and the Corrupt old news. It’s still a quest just about every class that can wield two-handed is thinking about. Unfortunately, not everyone will be able to witness this amazingly epic quest themselves.
Because of that, I set out to try and get a better recording of the quest for everyone. There were some successes, like actually being able to record the sounds and voice acting. There were also some failures, like my inability to do the quest completely without my UI. Here’s a tip: When you turn off most of your addons to improve the quality of your recording, don’t forget that some of those addons controlled

Last week’s post included a whole slew of commenter tips about WoW-related comic strips, so in addition to reading through your favorites, check out some of these newcomers:
The latest from Torment of the Week. My main comment here would be: WTB perma-links.
Here is one from Real Life Comics that is about Diablo 2, but I’ll include it because it is also about Blizzard’s patching habits.
GRATS! The De-Evolution of the Quest. I love how game issues are discussed beneath the comic. I also love how the old guy is a dead ringer for Disney’s Jafar from the first Aladdin movie when he pretends to be a prisoner in order to convince Aladdin to go into the cave and retrieve the lamp.
The Battlemasters: Guilded Butterflies.
Here’s a new one: Guilded Age. Start reading from the title page, and next week I’ll start posting the updates.
Working Daze also recently posted two WoW-related comics, including one about patch day.
Teh Gladiators: They’re A

We’d already noticed last week that the Authenticators in the US store had gone free shipping, but now official updates on Blizzard’s site say it’s true in the EU as well. American authenticators still cost $6.50, but you no longer have to pay anything extra for shipping, and EU authenticators have had their price dropped to €6.99. That’s still over $10, but they’re at least cheaper than they used to be. There’s a drawback, however: apparently they went with cheaper shipping, because you can no longer track shipments of authenticators, and shipping will take a little longer (up to 15 business days in the US). Which makes sense, given that you want these things as cheap as possible.
Ancilorn answers some other Authenticator questions as well — there’s no discount for buying multiple units at all; what you see is what you get. And while the only authenticator for purchase at the moment is the Corehound branded unit, there may be more
