In World of Warcraft: What enemy would you turn traitor to join?
World of Warcraft puts players on a relatively fixed path in terms of loyalties. Sure, there are some very deliberate exceptions to this — notably the Aldor/Scryer rivalry of The Burning Crusade and the Oracles/Frenzyheart feud in Wrath — but in general, wherever a conflict arises in the game, the decision as to what side you’re going to take is made for you. The rogue trainer in Northshire might tease you with the idea that joining the Defias is a potential option for you, but in reality, that can never happen.
WoW is certainly not lacking for “evil” factions one could potentially sympathize with. The aforementioned Defias, whose whole issue stems basically from getting screwed over by Onyxia’s meddling, stand out as one such faction. Illidan Stormrage has long sparked controversy as to whether he was really on the side of evil, although that might be a result of his almost

An understanding of how shadow priests work
Back in Ulduar and Trial of the Crusader, hybrid classes were poor, abused step children. Elemental shaman had to deal with gear loaded with useless MP5. Shadow priests had gear loaded with sub-optimal spirit. Why was that?
Um … well, you see, cause resto needs MP5, you know, and … uh … and holy, holy and disc are two … uh … spirit … um …
OK, so I’m not really sure what Blizzard was thinking back in ye olden days of World of Warcraft 3.2. But you can’t take a look at the way shadow priests are being designed for Cataclysm without getting a sense that shadow priests — and in fact, most hybrids — are finally getting an appropriate level of commonsense design. Shadow priests are the kings of the damage over time spell. It only makes sense that haste should be a powerful stat for us, right?

Jarek asked:
1.) No matter how hard you work at your own guild rep, even if you farm it like a psycho, can a GM just “deny” you of the guild rep rewards?
2.) Are all the standard guild control functions staying the same (GBank control, inv and remove settings, etc.)?
3.) I understand there is going to be an XP cap per day, but as per reward and ability, will this at least be the determining factor that 10- and 25-man guilds are not equals?
Mumper
1. GM’s have no control over the guild rewards. As long as your guild has unlocked the item via the achievement and you have the required guild rep, you can purchase the item.
2. Yes, most all of the guild control functions are remaining the same. We are however introducing a new ui for guild ranks that will allow you much more control.
3. The experience cap is in place to help balance out the experience curve between large and small guilds. We tuned the cap to

24-hour maintenance announced for more realms
Blizzard has announced on the loading screen another round of 24-hour maintenance for select realms to happen on Tuesday. This is part of the continuing plan to upgrade all servers before Cataclysm. The servers not listed will be undergoing normal maintenance, though that often means that those servers’ downtime will also be extended at least a couple of hours. We shall see.
Of course, this means that we’re going to have to have another WoW.com Server Maintenance Party. Since neither Shadow Council (US-RP-A) nor Zangarmarsh (US-PvE-H) will be affected, we have our choice of realms. So the question is …
Polls close Sunday and we’ll announce the event details on Monday. Expect the event to take place around 10:30 p.m. EDT (7:30 p.m. PDT) Tuesday night. I will also be streaming the event on WoW.com’s Justin.tv channel.
The full announcement from Blizzard is after the break.

Last Week My PvP perspective on new talent trees might shock you. For example, I advocated last week to remove every PvP talent!
Goals The No. 1 issue players have to deal with when they decide to go for gladiator isn’t about gear, teammates or even skill. If you are a dedicated raider in a competitive progression guild, you can relate to what we’ll be discussing today. The issue is the desire to attain goals and sacrifices that must be made.
Some players want gladiator far more than others, just like some players want to be the first on their realms (or first in the world) to slay dragons. I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t care a whole lot about slaying dragons. I was once in a top 50 U.S. guild but left it because raiding required too many hours — hours that could be spent playing arena (which I enjoy considerably more) or doing necessary IRL stuff.
Let’s compare PvE and PvP

Can I have 5 gold please? I need it to train my new level of skills. Woah, did you just put two hundred and twelve thousand gold into an open trade window?! Wait, where are you going? Wait!! Get back here! I’m not letting you get out of trade range! Oh my god, all this scrub has to do is click “trade” and I’ll be able to buy every single mount in the game!!
